about us

Jason Miskiri is a snapshot of Society. International son of Guyana, raised in America, locally vested, he is Society. A homegrown, local phenom, Jason Miskiri wowed family and friends during his days at Montgomery Blair High School.

Once called a CIAA legend, Jason’s instinctive connection to team work led him from George Mason University all the way to the NBA. Since his retirement from professional basketball, Jason has kept his game sharp, and has given his heart back to his local community through the Jason Miskiri Fundamental and Skills Basketball Camp which focuses on athletic talents, teamwork and perfection through repetition and practice. His leadership and sportsmanship skills on and off the court has built a local legacy of dedication to hard work and perseverance that has been recognized, by the Chamber of Commerce, the City of Takoma Park. He has been heralded as a staunch supporter and boisterous spokesperson for small, minority businesses by U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin, receiving the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition at the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Mineral Entrepreneurship ceremony.

A crusader for social change and economic development, Jason has sponsored and held fundraiser events for innovative businesses, sororities and nonprofit organizations here, and abroad.

Passionately driven by a love of food and the fellowship of gathering, Jason brought his game back home to Silver Spring where he brings us The Society Restaurant and Lounge. After a successful run in Laurel, MD of the wildly popular Island Flavors, the Miskiri magic hits again with an upscale spin on Caribbean/American fusion. Pulled right from his childhood table, Jason gives us favorites from both his native Guyana, and America.  Inspired by his loving step dad, and adorned appropriately with linens, lights, and craft cocktails in a sleek contemporary setting.

A haven for professionals, and the socially conscious, Jason personally invites you to share in our mission of “Good Food, Good People, and Good Will.”
